Hello and welcome back guys!
So this week since Valentine’s day is coming up, I thought I would do a couple DIYs that are easy, cheap, fun and great gift ideas for your significant other or friends! I’m doing a DIY each day this week (just the days I post, so Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Today I will be going over how to create a cute and fun piece of wall art with perler beads! This is what you are going to need:
You also need to decide what you want to make. I picked Bulbasaur because my boyfriend is absolutely in love with Bulbasaur. So once you make your choice just Google what you want and add perler pattern or perler or even crosstitch because you can use crosstitch patterns as well.
Once you have your pattern its time to create! Be easy on yourself because your fingers will shake and you will knock a bead out of place a time or fifty. Just have patience, take a deep breath and forge on even when you don’t want to. It will be worth it.
When you get done with your pattern and it looks all beautiful on the peg board it’s time to fuse it all together! Make sure to have a flat surface to work on and plug your iron in. I personally use the wool setting to fuse my patterns together. Place some wax paper or parchment paper on the design and place the iron on top. Move around until all beads are fused and you get your desired level of melting. Don’t worry too much if the side you’re working with isn’t turning out exactly as you want it to because you always have the other side to fall back on.
Now that everything is fused together take the iron off and let your creation cool for a minute or two. While it is still warm flip the peg board over with the creation facing down and separate the two. Now peel the paper off your design. Now that it’s free and still very warm, place on a flat surface and put either heavy books, board games, or something weighted and flat on top of the creation while it cools the rest of the way to ensure it stays flat. I would let it cool for a half hour or so.
Once your creation has cooled, it’s time to assemble your art! Take the frame and remove all the paper stuff it came with and place your creation flat in the frame as you want it. Then place your decorative paper behind that (you may have to trim it to fit) and reassemble the frame back together. And there you go! You have your nerd wall art!
Here’s mine all done and ready to go:
If you guys make some nerdy wall art like this one let me see them in the comments below! I hope y’all enjoyed this DIY and until Wednesday, with another one, stay classy and sassy 😉
