All About C2E2!

My thoughts on my experience at C2E2

So this past weekend I had the amazing opportunity and pleasure to attend C2E2 in Chicago, IL. If you don’t know what C2E2 is, it is a comic and entertainment expo.

This was my first year to attend. It was also my first BIG con and my first con that I attended in a different state and had to travel for. I thought I came prepared. I didn’t.

Many things played into that fact and I will not go into them all as most of them do not have anything to do with the con itself. And let’s be real. That’s why we are here and reading this post am I right? 😛

My amazing guy, Mathew made the trek to Chicago with me and attended the con with me. Which made it better. If you guys didn’t know (which I’m sure you don’t) I struggle with anxiety on top of my depression struggles. I don’t deal well with large crowds, large gatherings, crowded areas, strangers, etc. So it’s a wonder that I enjoy going to cons so much. Some times are a lot better than others but a calm and friendly face that I can focus on really helps keep the anxiety in check and at bay. Which is what Mathew does all the time for me. And my anxiety was honestly a big issue for me at this con. It made me moody, distant and grumpy at times.

But overall I really loved the con. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all.

I was a bit disappointed with artist’s alley and the show floor because I expected so many more moments of “Shut up and take my money” and I didn’t get that many of them. Which was just disappointing to me. When attending a con this large I expected to struggle hard with deciding on the items I actually was going to purchase because I would want everything. That sadly didn’t happen as much. Don’t get me wrong, I most definitely bought a lot of things just not as many as I thought that I would. And it quickly became clear, with the sheer size of the show floor that it was one of the main attractions to the con. That and the guests.

The guest list was amazing. So much talent had been invited and attended C2E2 this year and I am beyond blessed and thankful that I was able to go and see so many of these people. These people were just absolutely inspiring to see and had such amazing stories, words of wisdom and views on things. And many of them were just straight up funny.

We had the pleasure of attending the Twisted Toons panel which six voice actors read Back the Future in different voices which had me roaring with laughter the entire time. Wil Wheaton and Zachary Levi were far funnier than I thought they would be and were fantastic entertainers. AJ Mendez Brooks and Evanna Lynch both had their funny moments but I found them to be more inspiring and they just left me in awe.

Also can we just talk about how I MET EVANNA LYNCH?! OH MY GOD. I about cried. Many times. Just ask Mathew. It was kind of ridiculous. I couldn’t handle myself about it.

Every convention has their ups and downs and overall I think this one had a lot of ups but it just took too much to get there. And downtown Chicago is NOT a fun place to be! And for that I enjoyed C2E2 and will cherish my memories there always but I don’t plan on returning. But never say never. We don’t know what the future my hold.

Stay classy and sassy guys 😀

Going over my latest trip!

Okay, so I know how this post title sounds but, whatever. I don’t even care. I think its still great.

But anyways, welcome back fabulous internet friends!!!

This past weekend I went on a trip. The boyfriend and I went to Indianapolis for a day to help celebrate his birthday weekend. His birthday is today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE! I have been the super obnoxious girlfriend and have wished him happy birthday about 5 million times already. So points to me.

In true nerd or geek fashion, we got some great food, hit up Fry’s (where I purchased an AMAZING monitor), found some fantastic GameCube scores at a local game store and then in less nerdy fashion, took a beautiful walk in downtown Indy.

Insert photo dump here:

And before you ask, yes I took all those pictures. And yes. I am very proud of them and how they turned out.

Now that was just our Friday.

Saturday, we went up to Dayton and went to the Air Force Museum which sadly, museums are just something that neither of us get to go to all that often so it was a nice treat for the both of us. I had forgotten how absolutely phenomenal the entire museum is and my man blew me away which all the knowledge he has about aviation.

After the museum, we got a late lunch at a Nashville hot chicken place called Mike’s Nashville Hot Chicken. Which, let me tell you, IS AMAZING! I highly highly highly recommend going. It’s as close to the real deal as you can get in the North. If you are in the Dayton area, don’t think, just go to Mike’s.

Sunday we didn’t really do much. I had hoped to take a day trip each of the days we had off but Sunday was a much needed lazy day. We got to watch the Daytona 500. If you guys didn’t know (curve ball!) I am a NASCAR fan. Denny Hamlin is my man and I hate Jimmie Johnson. That is all you need to know. 😛

I am beyond thrilled to be able to have gone on these mini trips with my boyfriend and to have celebrated his birthday. It was an amazing weekend and reminded me just how lucky I am, as well as how fantastic of a travel companion and partner he really and truly is.

I only wish I had found more game stores to have gone to 😉

Until Wednesday, stay classy and stay sassy.

Tips of surviving a road trip!

What to bring/do on a road trip to keep from wanting to strangle your road trip mates.

Today the boyfriend and I drove all the way to Memphis from southern Ohio. A nine hour long car trip. We did get stuck in traffic AND we decided to stop in Nashville at THE best place for hot chicken (if you are EVER in Nashville, please do yourself a favor and go to Hattie B’s. You will thank me and it will be worth it)

Now I am lucky enough to have a fantastic road trip partner but others are not always as lucky. And what can you do to keep the trip from getting too boring even if you have great road trip partners? OR WORSE WHAT IF YOU HAVE TO BE A PASSENGER THE ENTIRE RIDE?! The horror. But don’t worry. Collinswoah13 has your back!

My first suggestion is to make sure you bring a book to read and your handheld game system, whatever that may be. AND DON’T FORGET YOUR GAMES! I have to say this because sadly I have been the person to forget more than one game and let me tell you, there is only so much you can take of Animal Crossing on a long road trip.

Next, it’s always nice to make sure you have some music that y’all can jam too. (God I sound old. I promise I’m not old, just uncool.) Now another good suggestion is to bring along an audio book and/or an episodic podcast for when and if the music gets to grind on the nerves of the other car companions.

When all else fails make sure you have read up on some interesting articles like what’s going on in the video game world, such as when games are coming out or have been announced, etc. Or just have your phone handy so you can help the conversation from getting too stale.

This is also a great time to further figure out the vacation plans once you arrive to your destination! Make sure the hype train is real and everyone stays aboard it.  I also like to take the time to pay attention to my surroundings as we pass them and if something is too cool to pass up on and there is extra time then make sure to stop and check it out either on the drive there or on the drive back. I am lucky enough to have the most amazing road trip companion in my boyfriend because he has a fantastic sense of adventure and is down for just about anything. If I get excited enough then he’s more than down and excited as well. Exploring is just half the fun.

I hope these were helpful road trip tips! Let me know what your tips are for keeping a road trip fun and exciting. And as always stay classy and sassy y’all 😀
