Happy Birthday!

My blog turns one!!!!

Yesterday (11/28) marked a full year of Collinswoah’s Corner!!! A FULL ENTIRE YEAR! I knew it was coming up but holy cow I didn’t think it was already here!!

Birthday cupcake

Collinswoah’s Corner has grown quite a bit in a year. It went from primarily being about nerdy things of all sorts to being more about my writing and sometimes my projects and crafts. I also went from a free site to a paid one all because I hit my view goal out of the park. Thank you guys.

This blog has also helped me grow as a person. It’s a huge step to take to put yourself out on the internet and share your personal writing. But hey, I’m doing it! Yay!

I have to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has ever visited this blog, everyone who will visit and everyone who continues to visit. You all mean so very much to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Without you guys this blog would not be possible.

To say thank you even more I am having my biggest sale to date in my Etsy shop. Take advantage of 25% everything, including any custom orders I am able to do. Check out the sale here. The sale runs from 11/29/17-12/09/17.

Year one has been a HUGE success for Collinswoah’s Corner and I can’t wait to see what all happens in year two.

Thank you all with all my heart.

Current Work in Progresses!

Look what I’m making for my shop next!

Remember how I said I wanted to share all of my creative outlets?

Well here we go! I thought I’d share some of my current work in progresses for my Etsy shop!

First up, I’m working on these awesome Star Wars character standees:

IMG_0883 (2)

I’m super happy with how the characters are turning out and love that the logo makes a perfect base for them to stand on. My biggest struggles with this projects has been ironing the base and making sure the tongue of the characters that fit into the base have melted enough while not melting the rest of the character too much. I personally have not been brave enough to attempt the taping method which is why ironing the base was so troublesome for me. Looks like I’m going to have to buck up and try it sooner rather than later!

So this is my next work in progress:

Yup! More perlers! These go along with my GameBoy earbud winders. I’m soon going to be offering GameBoy Advance earbud winders that look like this! These are seriously cool looking in my opinion. I am super excited for these to launch!

Stay tuned for updates these to hit my shop and other work in progresses I find myself getting into and sharing.

Take a look at the listings and my shop for yourself here.

The holiday season is quickly approaching and I’m trying to get ready for it by adding even more products to my shop so stay tuned for those to be coming!

I’m super happy and proud of how everything came out. I’m also thrilled with the fact that for the most part I’ve really been sticking to making new things. It’s a nice hobby and I love doing it.

Let me know if you all are interested in my creative process of how I do it all!

Trying New Things

Directional shift of the blog!

Hello and welcome back y’all!

Let’s take care of a little bit of business real quick here. So Monday I hit a milestone… 100 POSTS! What?! 100. Posts. Holy crap that is so many. Wow. I can’t believe it. I would have never thought that I would be at this point. Especially because I was terrified to take the leap to start this blog. But I’ve done it. Here we are! And I want to thank you all for it. I couldn’t have done it without your support. You guys reading my content are the reason why I continue to do this. So thank you.

I know that lately I’ve been doing more creative things instead of my “typical” content. To be completely honest I’ve been enjoying it a lot more. It’s been a struggle but in a completely different way rather than what I was doing before. It’s causing my creative juices to flow and to flow a lot more. With that being said I’ve been wanting to try some new things in the creative sense.

I officially want to try to being a creative blogger. I don’t know exactly what that is going to entail but that’s what I want to be. I want to challenge myself creatively. With my writing, my crafts and drawing.

Woah, wait, crafts and drawing?

Yeah.

I want to start drawing more and sharing those with you. Good or bad. Hopefully they’re good. For my sake! Ideally I’d share my drawings and either together or completely me, make a short story or poem or some sort of writing along with it. Or it be stand alone work. These are all just ideas being thrown out here.

As far as crafts go, I’d really enjoy sharing my journey of making things and exploring new crafting types, like crochet, refinishing things, sewing, cross-stitching, etc. It’d be fun. Or terrible. I will be showing my success AND my fails. So be ready for some frustrated posts! πŸ˜›

What do you guys what to see? What do you suggest I do or try? Like these ideas? (If I hear nothing I will assume you all LOOOOOVE these ideas!)

July Favorites!

See what I loved in July!

Hello and welcome back friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and happy weekend!

I am sitting here absolutely shook by the face that tomorrow is AUGUST! Seriously. Where has 2017 gone!? Please come back!

As you can see by the title, I’m going to talk about some of my favorite things of this month.

Misc.:

Sharpie Pens –Β  I have been only reaching for and using sharpie pens to use for all my non-day job related writing. They write well, look great, and feel amazing. I love a good pen. I think a good pen is hard to come by and the start of everything when it comes to writing. It just allows everything to keep flowing. When I’m in writing mode I don’t want to have to stop because of pen troubles. And I definitely don’t have to stop when using these pens. Moral of the story: I’m crazy and I love pens. πŸ˜€

Weather –Β  I don’t know where y’all live but here in Ohio the weather has been amazing. It’s been not too hot, just right and absolutely beautiful out. And that includes the rainy days we’ve had lately too πŸ™‚ I love the rain. And when it’s been nice and sunny I have been enjoying being out and about too.

Drawing –Β I go through phases. Ebbs and flows. Drawing is something that I have had ZERO interest in for YEARS! I mean like a decade. For real. But now all I want to do is sit around and draw and strengthen my pretty terrible skills and style. πŸ˜› It’s been my go to recently for my creative outlet. Hopefully I can make something come of it eventually.

Media:

Hanson – I honestly enjoy all genres of music and I go through periods where all I want to do is listen to a certain genre or artist. I have a bit of an obsessive personality. Poor Mathew, am I right?! Lately for me, I have been listening to Hanson. Like as much as I can. I have kept it from Mathew for the most part. So 2017 marks 25 years of Hanson being a band. I think the fact that they are releasing a greatest hits album this September has ignited the recent obsession. I’m honestly really excited for this to come out so I’m preparing by listening to Hanson as much as I can πŸ™‚

Crafty Amino – I don’t remember exactly how I stumbled across this app, I think it was suggested in the app store or an ad or something. So this app is where crafty people can share their creations with a community of crafters. People are really nice and supportive of one another which is even better. I love posting my work to get a genuine reaction (based on likes) of how well something may do in my Etsy shop.

PostSecret.com I have always loved this site but recently have gotten back in the habit of visiting it every week. For those who do not know about PostSecret, it is a site of shared secrets that have been written and mailed anonymously to Frank Warren, the founder of PostSecret. Frank Warren then picks some to share on the site each week. I love this project because no matter what I’m going through it gives me hope and perspective. It also let’s me know how I’m not alone in what I’m feeling or going through. Personally the site has helped me a lot and continues to help me every time I visit.

The Assassin Game by Kirsty McKay – For some reason I have been really in to horror-ish suspenseful fiction as of late. Which is weird because I am a big baby and get scared very easily. Just ask Mathew, he’ll tell you about the haunted walk we went on last October… Anyway, this book is about a girl named Cate who attends an exclusive Welsh boarding school. There is a secret society that brings on a select few new recruits every term to be a part of the Game. The Game is a secret assassin game called Killer. There is one killer who has to creatively “kill” other players while not revealing who he/she is. It’s all fun and games until someone starts attacking players for real. It becomes important to find out who is behind it and stop them because they attack and successfully kill Cate. This book kept me guessing the whole time. I thought that I had the real and fake killer pegged almost the entire time and wound up being shocked. I should have seen it coming though. This book was so good that it actually caused me many weird dreams until I finally sat down and read the rest of it. You know that it really must be a good book then!

Beauty:

City Color’s Bold Brow – I love my brow products. A lot. And I am constantly looking for new things I can use on them to make them look good. The bold brow helps fill in the bald spots that I have in my brows to make them look full while not giving the appearance that I have makeup in them. It makes my brows look very natural. You don’t have the look of mascara in your brows or that you forgot to wipe off the smudge you made from your eye shadow going awry. It’s a brow powder so a little bit goes a looooooong way as I have learned the hard way. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, Bold Brow is my go to for filling in my eyebrows!

Benefit’s High Brow – I told you that I love my brow products. πŸ˜‰ So this is a matte pencil meant to highlight your high brow; the areaΒ right under your eye brow. I use it every day with every makeup look and I think it always looks great and pretty natural. Plus it helps bring the green out in my eyes. That’s always good.

Covergirl’s Kate Kate Eye mascara – This is the mascara that IΒ always go to when doing my makeup. It lifts my long eyelashes so they stay out of my way. This mascara also doesn’t clump and gives great coverage. It does an amazing job at lengthening what I already have.

Well there you have it. The things I have been enjoying this month!

Until Wednesday, stay classy and sassy! ❀

Craftin’ Time!

See what crafts I’ve been working on lately!

Hello new and old friends!

So what in the heck have I been working on lately?

Great question. Well this is what I’ve been working on lately:

IMG_0524

I know these just look like painted pots in various sizes but these little cuties are going to be Pokemon pots. In the next month or so I will be launching an Etsy shop where you’ll be able to score these soon-to-be completed beauties. I will give more details once the Etsy shop is live!

I also have been working on this:

20170514_205817

This is something I was able to make from a heart shaped chocolate box from Valentine’s Day. My boyfriend, Mathew, got me this box and I wanted a way to keep it as a memento from our first Valentine’s Day together but I didn’t want it just be a chocolate box that made me sad every time I realized there was no chocolate in it. I know you all can relate to that. So I came up with this. We’re cute and oh so mushy and gushy and say this to each other all the time. Naturally I thought it was perfect and cute to put on this and be extra dorky and sappy. I love it and so does Mathew so that’s all that really matters here πŸ˜›

The last craft I have been kind of working on, or meaning to start, is this:

IMG_0527

So these will be cute little kawaii storage jars for things like my paint brushes, pencils, etc. I plan on painting them the solid pastel colors you see on top of the jars and then adding kawaii faces to them. Which will make them just too cute to handle.

So what have you been working on? What do you think of these? What should I do next?
