Goodbye 2017!!

Reflecting on the year as a whole

This is my last post for 2017! Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it’s about to be 2018. It really is true, the older you get the faster time seems to move. And yes, I know I’m only 24.

I wanted to take some time to reflect on good ole 2017 for a moment. All the good and some of the bad. 2017 has been one of the biggest years for me to date.

In 2017 I was able to travel to more places than I would have ever imagined and I got to do it with my best friend by my side. We went to Illinois, Indy, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi and all over Ohio!

Mathew and I also had the pleasure of attending many cons during 2017 which is one of my favorite things to do with my free time.

I was able to make many new friends this year, strengthen relationships and let go of some other relationship, that last part sucked at the time but I’m (almost) okay with it now.

Unfortunately I almost lost my grandmother this year but she’s a strong, stubborn, fighter so thankfully we still have her with us. And she’s still living at home which is an even bigger blessing.

One of the biggest 2017 moments is that my divorce wasΒ finalized! It was such a huge and terrifying day but one I’m so glad to have had and have behind me.

2017 marked a new and big step in my career for me as I got a new job! My second full time job! Woo! And I absolutely love ever second of this new job. Plus I also opened NerdCentral13, my Etsy shop, this year! And I hit my goal of 10 sales in the first year! Yeah! Collinswoah’s Corner also got upgraded and hit it’s first birthday! Big milestones!

I bought my first car and love her to death. Her name is Vivian and she is my nerd-mobile.

I had many dark and troubling days this year but I got thought each and everyone of them. I won’t get into this too much as I want to keep this as happy as possible πŸ™‚

Lastly, for those interested, my GameCube collection has grown tremendously. I am over my 30% goal for 2017 and actually have achieved 44.32% completion for 2017 which I am completely shocked by still.

I hope you all have had a great 2017. Here’s to an even better 2018!

Current Work in Progresses!

Look what I’m making for my shop next!

Remember how I said I wanted to share all of my creative outlets?

Well here we go! I thought I’d share some of my current work in progresses for my Etsy shop!

First up, I’m working on these awesome Star Wars character standees:

IMG_0883 (2)

I’m super happy with how the characters are turning out and love that the logo makes a perfect base for them to stand on. My biggest struggles with this projects has been ironing the base and making sure the tongue of the characters that fit into the base have melted enough while not melting the rest of the character too much. I personally have not been brave enough to attempt the taping method which is why ironing the base was so troublesome for me. Looks like I’m going to have to buck up and try it sooner rather than later!

So this is my next work in progress:

Yup! More perlers! These go along with my GameBoy earbud winders. I’m soon going to be offering GameBoy Advance earbud winders that look like this! These are seriously cool looking in my opinion. I am super excited for these to launch!

Stay tuned for updates these to hit my shop and other work in progresses I find myself getting into and sharing.

Collection Haul/Update!!

Update on my GameCube collecting!

Hey guys!

So I know I haven’t posted in a while and I know I’ve been sticking to more creative writing posts but today I just couldn’t hold it in any longer. Especially after taking another needed step back from everything.

This is what I got.

Now it definitely is not my largest haul but…

I have now finished the letter X AND the numbers.

Plus I hit 289 games. Out of 661 for those of you who forgot πŸ˜› Which means, I am now at 43.72% complete for the entire GameCube collection.

That just blows my mind! I wanted to get to 30% by the end of this year! I was at 20-something percent at the beginning of this year. And it’s all been in the wild hunting! Dang.

I have had the pleasure of being able to find a couple new game stores in the areas that I live/frequent that definitely have made this growth so much more possible. That and my amazing boyfriend and our wonderful trips to random places!

Well enough rambling about that…

So I am very proud to say I am picking off the sports games more and more. That is something that I’m finding to be more difficult than I anticipated because I had absolutely no idea that there were SO. MANY. SPORTS. GAMES. ON. GAMECUBE.

It’s honestly ridiculous. I can’t stand it. I thought you know NFL, Madden, NHL, NBA, NCAA, FIFA, Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods and then I’m done. For the most part. Nope. It’s like everyone decided to make a sports game. And now I just have to own them all since they all came out for the Nintendo GameCube. Which is funny because if you know me, I dislike all sports ball games and types unless it’s skateboarding, NASCAR or bowling. But here I am getting 16 million different football games… πŸ˜›

So my collecting has basically gotten to the point of, “Have I ever seen this game before in person?” If the answer is yes, I usually pass on it unless it’s a better deal that I have seen it before. If the answer is no, then I snatch it up into my arms and stroke the spine and only parting with it long enough to check out and then I cradle it all the way back home. I still find a thrill and thankfully I’m still finding games almost everywhere I go when looking for GameCube games. The only exceptions to this is when they don’t have GameCube games or it’s a Half Price Books…

Now my best scores in this haul is definitely X2, the X-man game, 2006 FIFA and my Wii Fit balance board. Now, before you judge too harshly I’ll explain why.

X2 and 2006 FIFA have been two games I have been searching high and low to find ever since I decided I wanted to close out certain areas of the collection alphabet. They have been the two that have alluded me the most and I am so glad to finally have those little buggers off my back and on my shelves!

Now the Wii Fit balance board is a little weird, I know. But a lot of places don’t sell them anymore. And most of my things are still packed away in a little garage all over the place since I’m back home with my family so finding it has been a lost cause. But buying one has proven to be just as difficult until now. I found one for $7! Which is great in my mind. I remember them selling for between $10-$15 when I last saw them which has honestly been a couple of years. So go me in my mind.

Collection Update/Haul!

Look what I’ve picked up lately!

Hello guys!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a game haul & update!

That’s because it’s been awhile since I’ve really been game hunting for the most part.

Well, let’s see my pickups!

So this has been a collection of things over the last month or two.

My amazing boyfriend got me Cubivore, which is my holy grail. It was the most amazing anniversary present ever! THANK YOU MATHEW!!!

The rest of my pickups have been a case of “hey let’s stop in this game store or this store oh and look at that!” For the most part it’s been a case of, I never see this or I have really been trying to find this particular game.

With that being said, I have closed out my Ys. I also only need one more # game and got a couple more games closer to closing out Xs. All on my goals for this year with collecting. Plus I finally picked up the last stupid Madden game I needed. Which is a nice relief.

As you can see, I did also snag the Sonic Mania special edition. It definitely wasn’t planned. I had planned to pre-order it but time and money got away from me so I never got around to it. I happened to walk in to one of my favorite stores in the Dayton area and there it was. Calling to me. So I had to. It was fate. And like probably a law or something somewhere πŸ˜‰ And I don’t see the Xbox Original Conkers too often. Plus it was a decent price so it was a why not throw that on top too? And it gets me one game closer to having my Xbox Original exclusive games completed. Well that was a mouthful. Dang.

So where am I at in my GameCube collection?

I am super duper proud to say I now have 260 games out of 661. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY GAMES! Guys, that’s a lot. Its Β 39.33% complete to be precise. Which is just freaky to think about. I started 2017 with the goal of getting to 30% complete and have blown that completely out of the water. Goodness gracious. THIS IS NUTS!

For those of you who don’t know I’m going for a complete GameCube collection (DUH) but I have put the stipulation on myself that I must find all the games in the wild, meaning out at stores and not online, unless gifted to me by another individual. And yes, I do have 5 Japanese exclusive games but sadly not PAL exclusives, yet.

ANIME AND MANGA YAY!

Just a very brief what I’ve been reading and watching!

Hello and welcome back!

So today is Friday. The first Friday that follows the full weekend that I will always have from now on. (As long as I have this job that is.)

So ever since Matsuricon I have been OBSESSED.

AND I MEAN OBSESSED.

With reading manga and watching anime. I know I say this after like every anime convention but this time I’m actually holding up my word!

So what have I been reading manga wise?

Well:

Cardcaptor Sakura (full series)

The God’s Lie

School Live! (book one)

Five Centimeters per Second

And what have I been watching anime wise?:

No Game No Life (full series)

Sonic X (three and a half episodes)

Initial D (one episode)

And so far all of them have been great in their own ways.

I’ve been trying to not go with stereotypical “me” animes and mangas and for the most part I think I’ve done a pretty great job. (Minus Sonic X)

I would recommend all of them to either read or watch.

Now I’m not doing my typical, I’m gonna tell you how I felt about them and a little bit about them blog post because I tend to ramble on about my own personal feelings about them a little too much and even I get bored of that.

Instead, I’m gonna go read some manga.

Have a great weekend guys.

What I’ve Been Playing!

Hello and welcome back!

I told you that we would get back to normal and here we go!

PS4: Crash Bandicoot – This brought back all the nostalgia for me. I got to enjoy this with Mathew, and he had never played Crash so it was great to be able to show him a part of my childhood. I will say, some the complaining on the Internet about the game being harder than the original, I didn’t find to be all that true. The things I sucked at as a kid, I still suck at as an adult. I love the updated look to the game but the cut scenes at the beginning definitely threw me off. Overall this game lived up to all of my expectations.

PS3: Katamari Forever – After my post on KatamariΒ Mathew and I were just itching to play Katamari. I finally had someone to play co-op and vs. with. It was great. But I think we both had more fun switching off on levels. I’ve actually only ever played Katamari traditionally, never on the drive mode. Neither had Mathew so we got to experience the chaotic-ness of that. Drive mode is where you go super fast and your ball is really hard to handle, like a super fast racecar. We both got terrible scores most of the time causing Roboking and the King to berate us. But we really expected nothing less. πŸ˜‰

PC: The Inner World – This game is dystopian point and click adventure. Mathew and I made it through the first chapter-ish of the game with a few struggles. Which I was really glad for. It made me feel like a kid again when I would struggle with Putt-Putt or Spy Fox. The story is intriguing and the main character is very endearing but the not so good treatment he has endured, I find to be heartbreaking. I also loved that this point and click adventure didn’t leave out any of the fun nonsense clicks that I always loved in point and click games. ❀

PC: Euro Truck Simulator 2 – It’s crazy how quickly things leave you. Like controls and keyboard driving. I was definitely not so good going back into this. At one point I could not figure out my turn signals OR how to bring up the control menu. It was bad news bears. After a couple not so great crashes, I started to get the hang of it. Naturally that when I stopped playing. πŸ˜› I honestly have far too much fun just driving around in a semi virtually. Great game all around. Side note: playing while drinking is next level difficulty and playing. BUT DON’T ACTUALLY DRINK AND DRIVE! πŸ˜€

Well that’s all! Lots more gaming is coming soon!!
