Collection Haul/Update!!

Update on my GameCube collecting!

Hey guys!

So I know I haven’t posted in a while and I know I’ve been sticking to more creative writing posts but today I just couldn’t hold it in any longer. Especially after taking another needed step back from everything.

This is what I got.

Now it definitely is not my largest haul but…

I have now finished the letter X AND the numbers.

Plus I hit 289 games. Out of 661 for those of you who forgot 😛 Which means, I am now at 43.72% complete for the entire GameCube collection.

That just blows my mind! I wanted to get to 30% by the end of this year! I was at 20-something percent at the beginning of this year. And it’s all been in the wild hunting! Dang.

I have had the pleasure of being able to find a couple new game stores in the areas that I live/frequent that definitely have made this growth so much more possible. That and my amazing boyfriend and our wonderful trips to random places!

Well enough rambling about that…

So I am very proud to say I am picking off the sports games more and more. That is something that I’m finding to be more difficult than I anticipated because I had absolutely no idea that there were SO. MANY. SPORTS. GAMES. ON. GAMECUBE.

It’s honestly ridiculous. I can’t stand it. I thought you know NFL, Madden, NHL, NBA, NCAA, FIFA, Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods and then I’m done. For the most part. Nope. It’s like everyone decided to make a sports game. And now I just have to own them all since they all came out for the Nintendo GameCube. Which is funny because if you know me, I dislike all sports ball games and types unless it’s skateboarding, NASCAR or bowling. But here I am getting 16 million different football games… 😛

So my collecting has basically gotten to the point of, “Have I ever seen this game before in person?” If the answer is yes, I usually pass on it unless it’s a better deal that I have seen it before. If the answer is no, then I snatch it up into my arms and stroke the spine and only parting with it long enough to check out and then I cradle it all the way back home. I still find a thrill and thankfully I’m still finding games almost everywhere I go when looking for GameCube games. The only exceptions to this is when they don’t have GameCube games or it’s a Half Price Books…

Now my best scores in this haul is definitely X2, the X-man game, 2006 FIFA and my Wii Fit balance board. Now, before you judge too harshly I’ll explain why.

X2 and 2006 FIFA have been two games I have been searching high and low to find ever since I decided I wanted to close out certain areas of the collection alphabet. They have been the two that have alluded me the most and I am so glad to finally have those little buggers off my back and on my shelves!

Now the Wii Fit balance board is a little weird, I know. But a lot of places don’t sell them anymore. And most of my things are still packed away in a little garage all over the place since I’m back home with my family so finding it has been a lost cause. But buying one has proven to be just as difficult until now. I found one for $7! Which is great in my mind. I remember them selling for between $10-$15 when I last saw them which has honestly been a couple of years. So go me in my mind.

Stay classy and sassy guys!

Collection Update/Haul!

Look what I’ve picked up lately!

Hello guys!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a game haul & update!

That’s because it’s been awhile since I’ve really been game hunting for the most part.

Well, let’s see my pickups!

So this has been a collection of things over the last month or two.

My amazing boyfriend got me Cubivore, which is my holy grail. It was the most amazing anniversary present ever! THANK YOU MATHEW!!!

The rest of my pickups have been a case of “hey let’s stop in this game store or this store oh and look at that!” For the most part it’s been a case of, I never see this or I have really been trying to find this particular game.

With that being said, I have closed out my Ys. I also only need one more # game and got a couple more games closer to closing out Xs. All on my goals for this year with collecting. Plus I finally picked up the last stupid Madden game I needed. Which is a nice relief.

As you can see, I did also snag the Sonic Mania special edition. It definitely wasn’t planned. I had planned to pre-order it but time and money got away from me so I never got around to it. I happened to walk in to one of my favorite stores in the Dayton area and there it was. Calling to me. So I had to. It was fate. And like probably a law or something somewhere 😉 And I don’t see the Xbox Original Conkers too often. Plus it was a decent price so it was a why not throw that on top too? And it gets me one game closer to having my Xbox Original exclusive games completed. Well that was a mouthful. Dang.

So where am I at in my GameCube collection?

I am super duper proud to say I now have 260 games out of 661. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY GAMES! Guys, that’s a lot. Its  39.33% complete to be precise. Which is just freaky to think about. I started 2017 with the goal of getting to 30% complete and have blown that completely out of the water. Goodness gracious. THIS IS NUTS!

For those of you who don’t know I’m going for a complete GameCube collection (DUH) but I have put the stipulation on myself that I must find all the games in the wild, meaning out at stores and not online, unless gifted to me by another individual. And yes, I do have 5 Japanese exclusive games but sadly not PAL exclusives, yet.

Stay classy and sassy guys ❤

My Reason for Being MIA

Why I’ve Been Gone!

Hey guys, I know I didn’t post at all last week, which is very unlike me. And I have to say I’m really sorry for that. I needed to take some time for myself. I honestly still think I need to take some more time for myself but I’m going to try and balance both posting on here and taking time for myself. We will see how it goes 🙂

Nothing too bad has happened. I just have a feeling of being stuck and trapped where I am at and by a lot of different things. Which makes me feel quite down. I know it’s not a bad thing to be at a standstill and to wait but sometimes it just does feel bad. I’m working through being okay with it while also figuring out what all I really want as well as how to go about getting it. And then making sure I stay as close to that path as I can to ensure my success in all ways and all facets of my life.

But back on the up and up! I finally put together a Google document of all the GameCube games I still need for those of you interested. It can be found here.

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and magical weekend! Be warriors in all ways, and be kind to one another. And as always stay classy and sassy.

How I Know I’m Getting a Deal

Hello and welcome back to this great corner of the interwebs!

I thought I’d share with you all some of the things I do to know I’m getting a good deal on a game or even a console.

I like to make sure that I am decently versed in the specific types of games I am looking for. So for me, I keep up with GameCube, PS2, DS, 3DS, and N64. A good way to do this is to be a part of the game collecting community. I personally do this through frequenting r/gamecollecting on Reddit.

Once I have more knowledge about the systems I’m looking out for, I make sure that I have a good set to resources to access. I tend to use Ebay, Pricecharting.com and some actual game store websites, (Mainly estarland.com for me, they’re amazing). How do I use these resources you ask? Well I use Ebay to see what games have been sold for when I have a game I’m interested in right in front of me. I browse listings by sold and completed listings and compare that to what I have in front of me. It’s important to look at the completed and sold listings because if it’s listed for 40 bucks that doesn’t mean it’s actually selling for 40 bucks. I will use Pricecharting.com to see what the trending value of a game is, as well as it’s highest and lowest values. I also like to look at the trend of a game to see if it’s been increasing or decreasing to determine if I need to snatch a game up now or if I’m safe to wait a bit. And last but not least, I will use other game store’s websites, typically estarland.com for me. This site is honestly great. They let you know the condition of the game and the price differences due to the varying conditions. With their used games its typically, complete, no manual, and disc only. That way you can see what the game in front of you is being sold for in its current condition at another competitor.

Now besides just purchasing the item as is, what else can you do to try and snag a better deal? Great question. You can use all of your knowledge to try and haggle a better price. Yes. Ask for a better deal. Pull your resources. Prove your knowledge. The worse thing that can happen is someone says no. It can be unnerving and scary at times but trust me. It DOES work. Sometimes. Not always.

Also be sure to ask them about deals or coupons. Especially if you’re in an area you don’t frequent. You could get lucky and find a discount or better option that you never knew existed.

Add yourself to the email lists, a lot of local game stores send out weekly or monthly emails with deals and coupons. It’ll be a few more emails to go through every week or so, but you’ll thank yourself later.

Make sure to be friendly and talk with the store clerks. So many times I have found myself in better positions by striking up a conversation with the clerk. And I have made a friend or two along the way as well. Those clerks might even set things aside for you when they come in just because they know you’re looking for it. Making your life a lot easier.

One last tip I have is carry some cash. When you’re frequenting small independent game stores, taking the credit card cash out fee and waiting for that money to be deposited can mean life and death some days, a lot of the time they’re willing to give you a discount IF you pay in cash. Always offer and see what happens. Again, the worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Stay classy and sassy!

What I’ve Been Playing Wednesday!

Take a look at what I’ve been playing and my opinions on them! 🙂

Wow. What a two weeks.

You’ll all be happy to know I got some great gaming in. Some good games, some not so good in the sense that they weren’t what I was expecting or looking to play at the time.

Let’s get right to it!

GameCube: Ribbit King – I don’t know what I was expecting with this game honestly but I wasn’t expecting what I got. I had always been told that if I enjoyed Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon then I’d really enjoy Ribbit King. So in my mind it’s somehow similar to the two. Well that’s just not right at all. In Ribbit King, you just play a golf like game. That’s all you do. Which is cool and great if that’s what you wanted turning it on and that’s what you expected. But I didn’t. I was just really disappointed with it. Maybe when it’s what I’m looking to play I’ll like it but for now I’m just happy to have it as part of the collection.

GameCube: Sims 2 Pets – This game turned out similar to Ribbit King for me; not what I was expecting or wanted at the time. I am just so used to Sims games on the console having a story mode and a free play mode. I personally stick to the story mode because I’d much rather play “free play mode” on the PC in the traditional Sims. So when I turned on the Sims 2 Pets and was met with no story mode I was surprised. And then I immediately turned off the game, no joke. If I wanted to play a traditional Sims game I would turn on my computer where it’s easier to control, not my GameCube.

PC: GTA V Online – I hadn’t played this in so long on the PC that I had forgotten a lot of the controls which made playing again a lot of fun. 😉 I also was finally able to play with Mathew and my family which makes the game that much more fun. I have a long way to go to get my character back to where I’m used to being but in the mean time, I’m really enjoying causing mayhem and destruction wherever I go. And I can’t forget about the random goofy glitches. Random gaggle of skydiver NPCs dropping from the sky anyone?

PC: Golf With Your Friends – So there’s a new level and a new game mode that’s been added. Like what?! YES! First let’s discuss the new level, which is a prehistoric level and it’s a lot of fun with all the twists and turns and trick shots you can make. BUT it’s really hard.  As I’ve said before, the game is still in Beta so tweaks can and will be made and with a couple of these holes on this level really need it! The last level especially. It seems almost impossible to make it through with 12 strokes and two minutes. Now for the new game mode. It’s called dunk. So instead of having a hole to put your ball in to (that’s what she said, I’m not sorry, it had to be said ;)) You bounce your ball in to the basketball hoop. It’s hard because the hit area seems to be kind of flawed but it’s a lot of fun. I can’t wait to try all the levels out this way. It takes a lot of the work out of navigating through the levels. Your bounces most definitely have to be times just right through!

PC: Sims 4 – The Sims 4 Parenthood pack just came out so I, of course, had to give it a go. The Sims is getting extremely real for those of use who play with families. You now have a parenting skill you can build up! There are so many new interactions with children and it’s honestly now a lot harder to raise kids. You have all this influence over your child but at the same time there’s so many things that just aren’t in your control at all. There are not phases that your child can go through, they ask for advice, they have different things that can be influenced like emotional control, manners, etc. A lot of the time one thing will be influenced positively while something else will be influenced negatively at the same time. It’s a lot of  fun and brings a lot more challenge to the Sims 4 so, as of right now I’m currently still enjoying what I’m experiencing. We will see if that changes. 😛

Collection Update!

See what I’ve picked up and how my collection has grown!

Hello friends!

So it’s been a bit since my last collection update. And I have been a very busy girl.

This is what I’ve picked up.

IMG_0534IMG_0529IMG_0523

I was lucky enough to pick up the bulk of the games in Louisville on my recent day trip with Mathew ❤

I did make a big decision though!

So with the generation that I”m currently focused on, I made the choice that I’m still going to go with a full GameCube collection but I’m only going to collect Xbox exclusives and everything else that’s not on GameCube on PS2. So that meant getting rid of quite a few games…

IMG_0613

Some of the games still on the shelf will go eventually but I just can’t stand to part with them just yet.

My GameCube collection just recently passed the 230 mark. That’s over 34% complete with the entire collection.

I’m slowly crossing games off the list that are a part of my new 2017 goal of completing certain letters of the alphabet. Soon I’m going to have to come up with my third 2017 game collecting goal.

Wow, I just have to say I am very blessed to be able to live this life and be able to afford to purchase these games and collect like I do. With that being said, I am going to be slowing down on the collecting front. Some things have come up in my life and I just need to take a step back for a few months. But don’t worry. I will still be looking and purchasing if the price is right 😉

I am very excited and anxious to see what happens next with this collection. And be on the look out too. I will be posting in the new few weeks what I am still looking for and what I have for those of you who are curious!

Favorite Games

Let me tell you about Harvest Moon on the GameCube!

Hello my wonderful and favorite friends!

Today I’m going to tell you about another game near and dear to my heart. The Harvest Moon series in general BUT specifically Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.

Remember the string of games that I talked about before that if you explain them to others they don’t sound that fun or interesting? Well this one falls in to that category. But I promise it is fun. At least I find it fun.

So! What is this game you ask? Well, it’s kind of like a farming sim/RPG. In this installment you are taking over your father’s barren farm after he passes. You leave your city life to come to the country to run this farm. You’re not alone in your efforts. You have Takaura helping you. He had worked for your father and had been a good friend to him. He does what he can to help you succeed by taking things into the city to sell them, giving you information and advice, etc.

While you are tending to your farm you can also go fishing, build relationships with the villagers, excavate in the dig site, and find love.

Now when it comes to farm life you can raise animals and harvest crops. With the animals you can sheer your sheep, milk your cows, and sell the eggs that your chickens lay. Some animals are just for companionship like a cat, a dog, and ducks.

As you’re more successful on your farm you can buy things and buy upgrades to make life easier such as a milking room for your cows or a cheese room where you can make cheese for higher profits.

There’s also a cooking mechanic to keep your stamina up so you’re able to do more around the farm. Different ingredients and combinations of ingredients will produce different outcomes, a lot of them bad outcomes in my personal experience 😛

The game likes in a calendar like way. There are four “months” which also act as seasons so you work your way through years and your life. You get married and have a child in the game. The child is your heir basically. The cool thing is, you get to pick your wife based on the three eligible bachelorettes in the village and your relationship with them. Some are easier to win other than others and they each have a distinct personality of their own. Who you marry also determines how your child looks and some of their personality. You as the play are able to influence their personality with toys, your friends, and how you care for your little one.

This game has a lot to it but it’s a lot of fun. There’s a mini game or two to keep things interesting as well. You get to watch the village change and flourish. You get to directly see your hard work pay off with how your farm looks which is something I really enjoy. The different personalities of the villagers are fun and humorous to see their moods and how they react to certain things.

I find the replay value of this game to be high because I always want to do better than I did the last time I played. Or I want to try something different, end up with a different lady, raise my kid differently, make my farm different, etc. The possibilities are endless.
