What I’ve Been Playing Wednesday!

Take a look at what I’ve been playing and my opinions on them! πŸ™‚

Wow. What a two weeks.

You’ll all be happy to know I got some great gaming in. Some good games, some not so good in the sense that they weren’t what I was expecting or looking to play at the time.

Let’s get right to it!

GameCube: Ribbit King – I don’t know what I was expecting with this game honestly but I wasn’t expecting what I got. I had always been told that if I enjoyed Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon then I’d really enjoy Ribbit King. So in my mind it’s somehow similar to the two. Well that’s just not right at all. In Ribbit King, you just play a golf like game. That’s all you do. Which is cool and great if that’s what you wanted turning it on and that’s what you expected. But I didn’t. I was just really disappointed with it. Maybe when it’s what I’m looking to play I’ll like it but for now I’m just happy to have it as part of the collection.

GameCube: Sims 2 Pets – This game turned out similar to Ribbit King for me; not what I was expecting or wanted at the time. I am just so used to Sims games on the console having a story mode and a free play mode. I personally stick to the story mode because I’d much rather play “free play mode” on the PC in the traditional Sims. So when I turned on the Sims 2 Pets and was met with no story mode I was surprised. And then I immediately turned off the game, no joke. If I wanted to play a traditional Sims game I would turn on my computer where it’s easier to control, not my GameCube.

PC: GTA V Online – I hadn’t played this in so long on the PC that I had forgotten a lot of the controls which made playing again a lot of fun. πŸ˜‰ I also was finally able to play with Mathew and my family which makes the game that much more fun. I have a long way to go to get my character back to where I’m used to being but in the mean time, I’m really enjoying causing mayhem and destruction wherever I go. And I can’t forget about the random goofy glitches. Random gaggle of skydiver NPCs dropping from the sky anyone?

PC: Golf With Your Friends – So there’s a new level and a new game mode that’s been added. Like what?! YES! First let’s discuss the new level, which is a prehistoric level and it’s a lot of fun with all the twists and turns and trick shots you can make. BUT it’s really hard. Β As I’ve said before, the game is still in Beta so tweaks can and will be made and with a couple of these holes on this level really need it! The last level especially. It seems almost impossible to make it through with 12 strokes and two minutes. Now for the new game mode. It’s called dunk. So instead of having a hole to put your ball in to (that’s what she said, I’m not sorry, it had to be said ;)) You bounce your ball in to the basketball hoop. It’s hard because the hit area seems to be kind of flawed but it’s a lot of fun. I can’t wait to try all the levels out this way. It takes a lot of the work out of navigating through the levels. Your bounces most definitely have to be times just right through!

PC: Sims 4 – The Sims 4 Parenthood pack just came out so I, of course, had to give it a go. The Sims is getting extremely real for those of use who play with families. You now have a parenting skill you can build up! There are so many new interactions with children and it’s honestly now a lot harder to raise kids. You have all this influence over your child but at the same time there’s so many things that just aren’t in your control at all. There are not phases that your child can go through, they ask for advice, they have different things that can be influenced like emotional control, manners, etc. A lot of the time one thing will be influenced positively while something else will be influenced negatively at the same time. It’s a lot of Β fun and brings a lot more challenge to the Sims 4 so, as of right now I’m currently still enjoying what I’m experiencing. We will see if that changes. πŸ˜›

Favorite Games

Let me tell you about Harvest Moon on the GameCube!

Hello my wonderful and favorite friends!

Today I’m going to tell you about another game near and dear to my heart. The Harvest Moon series in general BUT specifically Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.

Remember the string of games that I talked about before that if you explain them to others they don’t sound that fun or interesting? Well this one falls in to that category. But I promise it is fun. At least I find it fun.

So! What is this game you ask? Well, it’s kind of like a farming sim/RPG. In this installment you are taking over your father’s barren farm after he passes. You leave your city life to come to the country to run this farm. You’re not alone in your efforts. You have Takaura helping you. He had worked for your father and had been a good friend to him. He does what he can to help you succeed by taking things into the city to sell them, giving you information and advice, etc.

While you are tending to your farm you can also go fishing, build relationships with the villagers, excavate in the dig site, and find love.

Now when it comes to farm life you can raise animals and harvest crops. With the animals you can sheer your sheep, milk your cows, and sell the eggs that your chickens lay. Some animals are just for companionship like a cat, a dog, and ducks.

As you’re more successful on your farm you can buy things and buy upgrades to make life easier such as a milking room for your cows or a cheese room where you can make cheese for higher profits.

There’s also a cooking mechanic to keep your stamina up so you’re able to do more around the farm. Different ingredients and combinations of ingredients will produce different outcomes, a lot of them bad outcomes in my personal experience πŸ˜›

The game likes in a calendar like way. There are four “months” which also act as seasons so you work your way through years and your life. You get married and have a child in the game. The child is your heir basically. The cool thing is, you get to pick your wife based on the three eligible bachelorettes in the village and your relationship with them. Some are easier to win other than others and they each have a distinct personality of their own. Who you marry also determines how your child looks and some of their personality. You as the play are able to influence their personality with toys, your friends, and how you care for your little one.

This game has a lot to it but it’s a lot of fun. There’s a mini game or two to keep things interesting as well. You get to watch the village change and flourish. You get to directly see your hard work pay off with how your farm looks which is something I really enjoy. The different personalities of the villagers are fun and humorous to see their moods and how they react to certain things.

I find the replay value of this game to be high because I always want to do better than I did the last time I played. Or I want to try something different, end up with a different lady, raise my kid differently, make my farm different, etc. The possibilities are endless.

What I’ve Been Playing

Recent playings of the video games!

Today is Wednesday and you know what that means! Either I’m doing a favorite games OR a what I’ve been playing. And based on the title it’s a what I’ve been playing Wednesday!!!

So what have I been playing?

PC: HuniePop – You can thank my boyfriend for this one. I found it on his Steam and couldn’t help but play it. I legitimately called it his waifu for laifu game. Yeah, I’m just so nice πŸ˜› This game is hilarious and really entertaining. It’s a puzzle game for those who don’t know. A game where you complete puzzles to have successful dates with the women that you are trying to make fall in love with you. But really it’s just to get in their panties, let’s be honest. The puzzles get progressively difficult, you have the say the right things to the right girls, remember things that they tell you (which is hard when you have like seven girls), and complete the puzzle successfully in the deemed amount of moves. If you don’t you have a bad date and wasted some time and a (what will later be deemed) easy puzzle. I like it, I recommend it. It’s fun and very fun to make fun of πŸ˜›

GameCube: Sims 2 – I recently have been watching a YouTuber that I follow play this game and it pushed me to play it again. Oh my gosh. So much nostalgia. This game was so annoying but so much fun. It was different than the Sims on PC. How you ask? There was an actual story line. You used a controller. You had to do certain things to progress the game further and you didn’t stay living in one place. Sometimes you controlled all the Sims in the household and sometimes you did not. Which was an interesting concept to me, especially back then. I recommend highly for those who don’t want to delve completely in to the Sims pool. This is a good foot in to start with.

Switch: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – This game is easily, in my opinion, the best Mario Kart game out. I instantly fell in love with Mario Kart 8 because it was both beautiful and fun. How cool is it to go zero gravity? Answer: REALLY COOL! I think the levels are the right balance of easy to medium to harder. You have a gradual curve especially within the cups. I also appreciated the fact that there wasn’t such a harsh learning curve when it came to the different cups. I have found in previous Mario Karts that the difference between 50cc and 100cc is way too much. The upgraded installment on the Switch adds a couple things that I had wished they had put in on the Wii U version such as multiple item slots. Having two item slots is like a complete game changer. It just adds so much more to the game. Like giving the person in first two opportunities to have coins instead of one πŸ˜‰ Go out and try it when you get the chance!

Not too many games this time around but at least I was able to squeeze some gaming time in! Better than nothing!

Share what you’ve been playing! Tell me what I absolutely have to try!

What I’ve Been Playing Wednesday!

Look at what I’ve been playing!

Another Wednesday, another day to talk about the video games that I have been playing recently! What a wonderful day!

Let’s just jump right on in.

PS4: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix – So, last time I said I was watching Mathew play this more but this time I played it more. Mathew has blown through the game up until Atlantica. And Atlantica was my favorite world, I absolutely love The Little Mermaid so much so of course I’m going to play this world. Well because Mathew has been such a boss and blown through the game, we areΒ slightly under leveled for big giant Ursula. And the constant dying while trying to beat her is both amazing and embarrassing. Of course the conclusion that we are under leveled only came after I died about five thousand times and Mathew about three. And of course I was beyond frustrated at that point so grinding to level up was the last thing I wanted to do so the controller went right back to my even-keeled man. And then shortly after we decided to be done for the time being but that’s besides the point πŸ˜›

PC: Broken Age –Β  I have a huge love, admiration, and respect for Double Fine. So naturally I must own and play all of their games right? It’s a no-brainer I picked up this game when it was on sale on Steam most recently. (It was like super cheap guys, great deal) As soon as I purchased the game and got it downloaded, I started playing it. I really enjoy the appearance of the game. Double Fine’s art and design is something that I think I love the most about their games. That and the enjoyable stories. This game specifically is wonderful because it’s two (so far) stories that you can swap back and forth between. This is great because with it being a point-and-click adventure, often times I find myself to get in those frustrating moments of not knowing what to do but not wanting to quit or look up the answer so I am then able to just swap to the other character and try to advance that story.

PC: Toontown Rewritten – Okay, so for those of you who do not know what Toontown is, your childhood was terrible. Just kidding. I grew up playing Toontown which was a MMORPG through Disney. It was very kid friendly. No cursing, no numbers to be used, you weren’t able to give personal information about yourself none of that, which was great for parents. Well the character in the game were toons; dogs, cats, horses, pigs, ducks and a couple others, I think. In tradition cartoon character style they had gloved hands and these were the good guys, the playable characters. You got to design your character some and pick a silly name and off you went. There were tasks to follow to help you along, your weapons were gags things like pies, squirting flowers, things to drop on foes, etc. You used your weapons on the bad guys which were called cogs, there were different types of bag guys, bossbots, lawbots, sellbots, and cashbots. They all made fun of boring adults in corporate America. You as your toon were basically fighting against the mundane corporate America with your happiness, laughter and gags. It was fun and silly and I absolutely adored this game as a child. Well in true Disney fashion they pulled the plug on the game and it all went away. Until I found project Toontown Rewritten. This project has brought the game that I loved to dearly back to life and I am able to play it whenever and for free. I go through period where I am all about the game and then won’t touch it because since its a MMORPG it’s very grindy and I personally can only take so much of that before I am bored and need to move on with something more stimulating to me. I currently have to defeat 900 cogs, 300 cogs in cashbot HQ, 100 5 story buildings, 150 4+ story buildings. So it’s quite a lot of the same thing over and over right now. πŸ˜‰

What have you been playing? Anything I should be playing? What do you think of these games?

Recent Pickup Haul!

Recent video game pickups! Need I say more?

GUYS! It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these.

So I have slowed down a bit just because I haven’t had much time lately to go hunting. I know. It’s just so sad.

This is what I have acquired since my last pickup haul:

IMG_0517

The most exciting thing about this? I am TWO GameCube games away from my 2017 goal of 200 games and hitting 30% complete with the entire collection. TWO GAMES AWAY! And it’s only MAY! Oh my gosh. I honestly didn’t think I would be at this point so soon.

So now I need to re-evaluate my collecting goals for this year.

And those goals are to hopefully (besides non-North American games) shut out some letters of the alphabet. I’m going to try to close out numbers, A, X, and Y. It’s not too many games so I know I’ll be able to do it. Which will be nice so I won’t have to move games around too much at the beginning of my collection anymore. πŸ˜›

Now, on to my pickups. My wonderful and amazing cousin was so gracious to give me the games I didn’t have from what he had of GameCube games (with the stipulation that he can OF COURSE borrow games). Thank you so much best and favorite cousin ever!

Mathew and I also stopped at a game store on our way back from Chicago which resulted in the bulk of my pickup. I was happy to get my sports games closer to complete (that way I don’t have to look at them anymore ;)). I also made the decision to start working on getting my 3DS collection back to where it was before I was robbed. Which is a huge step for me so I am very proud about that. Plus this store had some amazing deals. The prices were good on most games, especially Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon for the 3DS. And on top of that they were doing a buy 3 get 1 free on all used games. Win for me. I was sold. Plus I also try to pick up PSP games that look interesting whenever I find them because they’re honestly quite hard to find and purchase.

Have you guys picked anything up lately? What was it?! What are your collecting goals?

Until Monday, stay classy and sassy ❀

Also have a safe weekend loves!

Favorite Games!

Luigi’s Mansion is today’s topic!

Oh Nintendo did so many things right when they released Luigi’s Mansion! Finally Nintendo gave the sidekick their own game and by stepping out of their “perfected” equation bubble.

I loved the spooky feeling that this game gave off without actually being spooky or scary. It made you feel more brave about things because Luigi was so scared. You as the player are in control of Luigi so it’s almost like you are coaxing him along to progress in the game, helping to give him confidence to do what needs to be done which takes the spooky aspects away. Not that the game really was or is that spooky or scary. πŸ˜‰

I think one of the reasons why I really loved the game was because of its deviance from the traditional Nintendo and Mario games. It was refreshing. But it also helped that the game itself was fun. it was challenging in just the right ways and the story line was good and there. Which doesn’t happen too often for me.

And how great is it that Luigi had to save Mario?! Finally Mario is the one who screwed up and got caught. It’s something that I always wondered about, what happens when Mario gets caught and who saves Mario? But now my questions have been answered. Somewhat. Luigi is the one who gets called up and has to save Mario from the mess he finds himself in. Moral of the story is: Luigi is theΒ real hero. Always. Luigi is the best brother.

Have you played Luigi’s Mansion? What are your thoughts on it? If you haven’t, what are you doing?! Go play it! πŸ˜›

Whatcha Been Playing Wednesday

What I’ve been playing!

I had some pretty good chill time lately which means some wonderful gaming time was able to be squeezed in which is always great!

PC: Sims 3 – I had a problem with my new build PC where it didn’t want to play the Sims 4. Which was annoying but fine because I had the Sims 3 and all the add-ons for the Sims 3 to play instead. So I did. Turns out that I had some kinks to work out with the Sims 3 as well but I got them all figured out and it’s all good. I forgot how much I had missed the Sims 3 andΒ just how muchΒ I like it more than the Sims 4. I started a household with the intention on trying to complete the 100 baby challenge. If you don’t know what that is, it is just like it sounds. You have a Sim and try to have that Sim to parent 100 babies within that Sim’s life cycle. I personally have never completed it due to technology issues in the past. My Sim, Delilah currently just completed her degree in fine arts from university, adopted a puppy and is eager awaiting her first child. She does have a job in the film career path and ironically her boss is the soon-to-be dad to her child. So much drama! It’s great. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

PC: Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat From Your Head to Your Feet – Yes. I did play this. Why you ask? The boyfriend and I were reminiscing about old computer games, especially the old point-and-click adventures and we both decided we wanted to relive some of those “glory” days. I had forgotten just how cutesy and adorable Humongous Entertainment games were. Such a shame that they don’t exist anymore.

PS4: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix – This one I haven’t played too much of myself. I’ve been watching Mathew play it more. The PS4 remaster of this is just so beautiful. I have fan girled so hard over this game. I can’t get over the amazing changes from the regular game vs. the final mix and then the remaster look on top of it all. It’s been a blast to relive all the great and frustrating moments of one of my favorite games with one of my most favorite people in the world.

Wii U: Paper Mario Color Splash – Like this is a surprise anymore. But I am so close to being done with this game! I finally surpassed Larry and man was that frustrating. I made it through more levels all the way to the last giant Paint Star (which is the green one for me!) to Lemmy. OH MY GOODNESS. This is proving to be difficult for me. So needless to say this is where I am stuck and where I have abandoned the game for now.

Not too many games have been played but quite a few hours have been logged on each of these. Many fun times and new memories have been made. That’s honestly one of the great things about gaming to me. The memories created while playing. And the story lines of course πŸ˜‰
