Goodbye 2017!!

Reflecting on the year as a whole

This is my last post for 2017! Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it’s about to be 2018. It really is true, the older you get the faster time seems to move. And yes, I know I’m only 24.

I wanted to take some time to reflect on good ole 2017 for a moment. All the good and some of the bad. 2017 has been one of the biggest years for me to date.

In 2017 I was able to travel to more places than I would have ever imagined and I got to do it with my best friend by my side. We went to Illinois, Indy, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi and all over Ohio!

Mathew and I also had the pleasure of attending many cons during 2017 which is one of my favorite things to do with my free time.

I was able to make many new friends this year, strengthen relationships and let go of some other relationship, that last part sucked at the time but I’m (almost) okay with it now.

Unfortunately I almost lost my grandmother this year but she’s a strong, stubborn, fighter so thankfully we still have her with us. And she’s still living at home which is an even bigger blessing.

One of the biggest 2017 moments is that my divorce was finalized! It was such a huge and terrifying day but one I’m so glad to have had and have behind me.

2017 marked a new and big step in my career for me as I got a new job! My second full time job! Woo! And I absolutely love ever second of this new job. Plus I also opened NerdCentral13, my Etsy shop, this year! And I hit my goal of 10 sales in the first year! Yeah! Collinswoah’s Corner also got upgraded and hit it’s first birthday! Big milestones!

I bought my first car and love her to death. Her name is Vivian and she is my nerd-mobile.

I had many dark and troubling days this year but I got thought each and everyone of them. I won’t get into this too much as I want to keep this as happy as possible 🙂

Lastly, for those interested, my GameCube collection has grown tremendously. I am over my 30% goal for 2017 and actually have achieved 44.32% completion for 2017 which I am completely shocked by still.

I hope you all have had a great 2017. Here’s to an even better 2018!

Life Update!

Check out what I’ve been up to lately!

Hello all!

So what’s been new with me…

Well first and foremost if you didn’t see my big announcement blog… I opened my Etsy shop! NerdCentral13! Well guys, I SOLD MY FIRST ITEM! I had a lovely lady contact me about making a custom order for her. What was that custom order you ask?! A Lilligant pot. Like the Pokemon! Well I finished her up and shipped her out so take a look!

As you obviously can see, I do take custom orders and I am happy to attempt any and all feats you might request of me!

I also have had the pleasure of seeing some pretty cool places.

First up was Loveland Castle in Loveland, Ohio.

This is where Mathew and I most recently were able to see Mikey Mason perform. Which was amazing. Like always!

Mathew was sweet enough to take us on a little day trip to Louisville for Memorial day, which I picked up A LOT of games if you did not see that, CHECK IT OUT. Don’t worry. I’ll wait… we got to see some amazing views of the city, both fell in love with Louisville. But only at a distance. I will love visiting but do NOT want to move there. It just seemed so empty almost every where we went. It was strange. Sadly I didn’t get any pictures but I did get to enjoy the day with my man and that’s what matters. Some times its better to live in the moment than to document the moment. And it just means we will have to go back just so I can capture some of those magnificent views on camera!

And last but not least, Mathew and I made a trip out to Indy to pick up his mom from the airport and we were able to go a little early and make it to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. This was an amazing experience. Not only did we get to check out the museum BUT there was also a couple events going on that day which meant we got to see some cars out on the track. I was just overwhelmed by everything. It was too cool to watch the cars out on the track! They also had an event with Jaguar and Range Rover where they had some really nice Jags that YOU COULD DRIVE! But sadly we didn’t have enough time nor did we have closed toed shoes to do the event.

Mathew and I have been trying to make sure we have at least one adventure a month and I would say we have done a pretty great job at that so far.

I just can’t say enough how lucky am I to have this life. I love what I get to do and experience and I am forever thankful for that. Especially because of who I get to experience these moments with.

Let’s see where the next month or so takes us.

All About C2E2!

My thoughts on my experience at C2E2

So this past weekend I had the amazing opportunity and pleasure to attend C2E2 in Chicago, IL. If you don’t know what C2E2 is, it is a comic and entertainment expo.

This was my first year to attend. It was also my first BIG con and my first con that I attended in a different state and had to travel for. I thought I came prepared. I didn’t.

Many things played into that fact and I will not go into them all as most of them do not have anything to do with the con itself. And let’s be real. That’s why we are here and reading this post am I right? 😛

My amazing guy, Mathew made the trek to Chicago with me and attended the con with me. Which made it better. If you guys didn’t know (which I’m sure you don’t) I struggle with anxiety on top of my depression struggles. I don’t deal well with large crowds, large gatherings, crowded areas, strangers, etc. So it’s a wonder that I enjoy going to cons so much. Some times are a lot better than others but a calm and friendly face that I can focus on really helps keep the anxiety in check and at bay. Which is what Mathew does all the time for me. And my anxiety was honestly a big issue for me at this con. It made me moody, distant and grumpy at times.

But overall I really loved the con. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all.

I was a bit disappointed with artist’s alley and the show floor because I expected so many more moments of “Shut up and take my money” and I didn’t get that many of them. Which was just disappointing to me. When attending a con this large I expected to struggle hard with deciding on the items I actually was going to purchase because I would want everything. That sadly didn’t happen as much. Don’t get me wrong, I most definitely bought a lot of things just not as many as I thought that I would. And it quickly became clear, with the sheer size of the show floor that it was one of the main attractions to the con. That and the guests.

The guest list was amazing. So much talent had been invited and attended C2E2 this year and I am beyond blessed and thankful that I was able to go and see so many of these people. These people were just absolutely inspiring to see and had such amazing stories, words of wisdom and views on things. And many of them were just straight up funny.

We had the pleasure of attending the Twisted Toons panel which six voice actors read Back the Future in different voices which had me roaring with laughter the entire time. Wil Wheaton and Zachary Levi were far funnier than I thought they would be and were fantastic entertainers. AJ Mendez Brooks and Evanna Lynch both had their funny moments but I found them to be more inspiring and they just left me in awe.

Also can we just talk about how I MET EVANNA LYNCH?! OH MY GOD. I about cried. Many times. Just ask Mathew. It was kind of ridiculous. I couldn’t handle myself about it.

Every convention has their ups and downs and overall I think this one had a lot of ups but it just took too much to get there. And downtown Chicago is NOT a fun place to be! And for that I enjoyed C2E2 and will cherish my memories there always but I don’t plan on returning. But never say never. We don’t know what the future my hold.
