Collection Haul/Update!!

Update on my GameCube collecting!

Hey guys!

So I know I haven’t posted in a while and I know I’ve been sticking to more creative writing posts but today I just couldn’t hold it in any longer. Especially after taking another needed step back from everything.

This is what I got.

Now it definitely is not my largest haul but…

I have now finished the letter X AND the numbers.

Plus I hit 289 games. Out of 661 for those of you who forgot šŸ˜› Which means, I am now at 43.72% complete for the entire GameCube collection.

That just blows my mind! I wanted to get to 30% by the end of this year! I was at 20-something percent at the beginning of this year. And it’s all been in the wild hunting! Dang.

I have had the pleasure of being able to find a couple new game stores in the areas that I live/frequent that definitely have made this growth so much more possible. That and my amazing boyfriend and our wonderful trips to random places!

Well enough rambling about that…

So I am very proud to say I am picking off the sports games more and more. That is something that I’m finding to be more difficult than I anticipated because I had absolutely no idea that there were SO. MANY. SPORTS. GAMES. ON. GAMECUBE.

It’s honestly ridiculous. I can’t stand it. I thought you know NFL, Madden, NHL, NBA, NCAA, FIFA, Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods and then I’m done. For the most part. Nope. It’s like everyone decided to make a sports game. And now I just have to own them all since they all came out for the Nintendo GameCube. Which is funny because if you know me, I dislike all sports ball games and types unless it’s skateboarding, NASCAR or bowling. But here I am getting 16 million different football games… šŸ˜›

So my collecting has basically gotten to the point of, “Have I ever seen this game before in person?” If the answer is yes, I usually pass on it unless it’s a better deal that I have seen it before. If the answer is no, then I snatch it up into my arms and stroke the spine and only parting with it long enough to check out and then I cradle it all the way back home. I still find a thrill and thankfully I’m still finding games almost everywhere I go when looking for GameCube games. The only exceptions to this is when they don’t have GameCube games or it’s a Half Price Books…

Now my best scores in this haul is definitely X2, the X-man game, 2006 FIFA and my Wii Fit balance board. Now, before you judge too harshly I’ll explain why.

X2 and 2006 FIFA have been two games I have been searching high and low to find ever since I decided I wanted to close out certain areas of the collection alphabet. They have been the two that have alluded me the most and I am so glad to finally have those little buggers off my back and on my shelves!

Now the Wii Fit balance board is a little weird, I know. But a lot of places don’t sell them anymore. And most of my things are still packed away in a little garage all over the place since I’m back home with my family so finding it has been a lost cause. But buying one has proven to be just as difficult until now. I found one for $7! Which is great in my mind. I remember them selling for between $10-$15 when I last saw them which has honestly been a couple of years. So go me in my mind.

Stay classy and sassy guys!

Collection Update/Haul!

Look what I’ve picked up lately!

Hello guys!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a game haul & update!

That’s because it’s been awhile since I’ve really been game hunting for the most part.

Well, let’s see my pickups!

So this has been a collection of things over the last month or two.

My amazing boyfriend got me Cubivore, which is my holy grail. It was the most amazing anniversary present ever! THANK YOU MATHEW!!!

The rest of my pickups have been a case of “hey let’s stop in this game store or this store oh and look at that!” For the most part it’s been a case of, I never see this or I have really been trying to find this particular game.

With that being said, I have closed out my Ys. I also only need one more # game and got a couple more games closer to closing out Xs. All on my goals for this year with collecting. Plus I finally picked up the last stupid Madden game I needed. Which is a nice relief.

As you can see, I did also snag the Sonic Mania special edition. It definitely wasn’t planned. I had planned to pre-order it but time and money got away from me so I never got around to it. I happened to walk in to one of my favorite stores in the Dayton area and there it was. Calling to me. So I had to. It was fate. And like probably a law or something somewhere šŸ˜‰ And I don’t see the Xbox Original Conkers too often. Plus it was a decent price so it was a why not throw that on top too? And it gets me one game closer to having my Xbox Original exclusive games completed. Well that was a mouthful. Dang.

So where am I at in my GameCube collection?

I am super duper proud to say I now have 260 games out of 661. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY GAMES! Guys, that’s a lot. Its Ā 39.33% complete to be precise. Which is just freaky to think about. I started 2017 with the goal of getting to 30% complete and have blown that completely out of the water. Goodness gracious. THIS IS NUTS!

For those of you who don’t know I’m going for a complete GameCube collection (DUH) but I have put the stipulation on myself that I must find all the games in the wild, meaning out at stores and not online, unless gifted to me by another individual. And yes, I do have 5 Japanese exclusive games but sadly not PAL exclusives, yet.

Stay classy and sassy guys ā¤

My Reason for Being MIA

Why I’ve Been Gone!

Hey guys, I know I didn’t post at all last week, which is very unlike me. And I have to say I’m really sorry for that. I needed to take some time for myself. I honestly still think I need to take some more time for myself but I’m going to try and balance both posting on here and taking time for myself. We will see how it goes šŸ™‚

Nothing too bad has happened. I just have a feeling of being stuck and trapped where I am at and by a lot of different things. Which makes me feel quite down. I know it’s not a bad thing to be at a standstill and to wait but sometimes it just does feel bad. I’m working through being okay with it while also figuring out what all I really want as well as how to go about getting it. And then making sure I stay as close to that path as I can to ensure my success in all ways and all facets of my life.

But back on the up and up! IĀ finally put together a Google document of all the GameCube games I still need for those of you interested. It can be found here.

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and magical weekend! Be warriors in all ways, and be kind to one another. And as always stay classy and sassy.

Recent Pickup Haul!

Recent video game pickups! Need I say more?

GUYS! It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these.

So I have slowed down a bit just because I haven’t had much time lately to go hunting. I know. It’s just so sad.

This is what I have acquired since my last pickup haul:

IMG_0517

The most exciting thing about this? I am TWO GameCube games away from my 2017 goal of 200 games and hitting 30% complete with the entire collection. TWO GAMES AWAY! And it’s only MAY! Oh my gosh. I honestly didn’t think I would be at this point so soon.

So now I need to re-evaluate my collecting goals for this year.

And those goals are to hopefully (besides non-North American games) shut out some letters of the alphabet. I’m going to try to close out numbers, A, X, and Y. It’s not too many games so I know I’ll be able to do it. Which will be nice so I won’t have to move games around too much at the beginning of my collection anymore. šŸ˜›

Now, on to my pickups. My wonderful and amazing cousin was so gracious to give me the games I didn’t have from what he had of GameCube games (with the stipulation that he can OF COURSE borrow games). Thank you so much best and favorite cousin ever!

Mathew and I also stopped at a game store on our way back from Chicago which resulted in the bulk of my pickup. I was happy to get my sports games closer to complete (that way I don’t have to look at them anymore ;)). I also made the decision to start working on getting my 3DS collection back to where it was before I was robbed. Which is a huge step for me so I am very proud about that. Plus this store had some amazing deals. The prices were good on most games, especially Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon for the 3DS. And on top of that they were doing a buy 3 get 1 free on all used games. Win for me. I was sold. Plus I also try to pick up PSP games that look interesting whenever I find them because they’re honestly quite hard to find and purchase.

Have you guys picked anything up lately? What was it?! What are your collecting goals?

Until Monday, stay classy and sassy ā¤

Also have a safe weekend loves!

Video Game Organization

How I Organize My Collection

Hi there and welcome friends!

Today I thought I would go over how I organize my video game collection and give you guys some tips on how to organize and optimize what space you have, especially if it is a little bit of space like I am (Seeing as I am confined to one room).

I personally asked myself what I wanted to display most and what I wanted within reach (or close reach). I also wanted everything to look good as well as be close by. I decide I didn’t need my PC games super close by but I did want them to be displayed somehow. I found it important for my GameCube, Wii, Wii U, and handheld games to be displayed prominently as these were the things that would be growing the most as well as what I would be reaching for the most. I wanted all my Sony systems to be close by but not necessarily the focal point of my display.

I personally like to try to use every inch of display space possibly while still being able to see everything. I like to fill in the row on the shelf first and then do columns on top of my rows. This way you can still see everything but you get more on one shelf.

IMG_0510

I will also “hide” some of my games.

I put my PS3 games in these lockers because they’re great for storage. They don’t take up much room and I can fit a lot in them. Plus they are perfect sized for PS3 game cases. And I don’t really use my PS3 as much as my other systems so having them nearby if I want them is great but not having them within reach just makes sense for me.

IMG_0508

I have all my cased PC games in my closet to have them all where I can admire them but not to take up “prime real estate” because I just never need to grab them because of everything being loaded up on my computers and discs just aren’t really necessary anymore.

IMG_0514

I also will “hide” some of my games because I have a lot of “pretties” (like my wonderful Slytherin crest). I like to display my pretty things but I also need places to store my games. So a perfect compromise for me is to have all my PS1 games in one of my organizer cubes and then have some of my pretty display items in front. šŸ™‚

IMG_0513

Making sure my games are in alphabetical order is also key to keeping my collection organized and looking good. It helps me keep track of where things are, what I have and still need, as well as what I have lent out to friends.

Just remember above all to have fun with it. I always enjoy moving things around and organizing things differently. Especially when I get new pretty things.

Let me know what you do to organize your collections! Feel free to leave pictures too! I always need inspiration. šŸ™‚

Stay classy and sassy guys ā¤

How I Afford my Video Game Hobby

Some tips and best practices for affording video game collecting!

Hello and welcome lovelies!

I thought today would be fun to talk a little bit about some of the things that I do to afford my video game collecting hobby. It might give you collectors or aspiring collectors some ideas on how to afford this hobby!

First and foremost, I set a budget. I determine what I can spend this pay period on game collecting. Sometimes I’m really good at sticking to that. Other times not so much. Which is why I always give myself some wiggle room with the budget I set for myself.

I also coupon in other places in my life to help fund my hobby. I download a lot of the stores apps, have apps downloaded on my web browser, Google things, etc. to find great deals and coupons for my purchases. You’d be surprised at what you can find. The Honey web browser app is amazing. It compares all the coupons codes found online and tests them to help you get the best deal. Also use ebates when you know you’re going to be buying things online. It really works and is great. You actually get money back. It’s sometimes hard to remember to use but it is worth the extra little bit of effort. I also have an app on my phone called Slidejoy which adds ads on my lock screen and I don’t even have to actually read or open the ads themselves. I get money based on how many times I open my phone during a day and once I hit a certain threshold I redeem it for money or gift cards to help me out allowing me to spend more money on games.

Another thing that I do is sell games. But only my doubles. I am guilty of picking up games or friends buy me games to help me out and they happen to be games I already have and from stores that do no returns. So I usually wait until I have a good number and just trade them in somewhere and use that towards a more expensive game I’ve been having my eye on.

I will smartly use my credit cards to rack up cash back points on my everyday purchases. I usually take my saved up points, redeem them for cash and put that back in to my hobby or a big purchase that I need to make. Just make sure you’re careful with you’re credit cards. Its so easy to get out of control. I know this from personal experience. šŸ™‚

One last thing that I will share with you guys is probably the most simple and duh moment. Stay in. Enjoy the games that you have. Watch a movie. Go for a walk at a local park or in your neighborhood. Bake. Just do something free. Bonus points if you finally sit down and read a book you’ve been putting off or play a game that you already have that you’ve always wanted to play. And extra bonus points if it gets you moving or prepares you for the following week. You’d be shocked at how much a weekend in will save you in money. Not that I follow this practice as often as I should. I’m trying to get better at this one šŸ˜›

If you guys want more tips and best practices let me know! Let me know yours as well and what you think of these.

Enjoy your weekend friends and like I always say; stay classy and sassy ā¤

Pickup Haul With Collinswoah13

Recent Video Game Pickups!

Hello and welcome back my lovelies!!!

Today I have another video game pickup haul for you amazing people!

So here’s the pickups:

009

So it was a pretty good month. Nothing too crazy, except for my Switch purchase. Since you probably cannot tell the names of the titles of the Switch games, they are 1-2 Switch and Breath of the Wild.

Now it was a very interesting time to get my Switch because Gamestop took forever to actually charge me for my Switch so I was hoping a praying they would forget. I know how silly and unlikely that would be but still. The hope was there. Just so you all know, they DID charge me like they should have and I’m relieved because now I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Well, I also ordered my Switch through Gamestop.com which also caused it not to arrive on launch day. Which is fine because I didn’t want to pay a ridiculous amount of money (in my opinion) just to get it on launch day. So it was set to arrive Monday the 6th. With the games. Did that happen? No. The console arrived the 6th. The game arrived the 7th. I. was. not. happy. Now everything is super great and fine so don’t worry. I absolutely love the Switch and will go into that more in my Monday post.

As for my other pickups, I am very happy with them. The ones with the stupid side stickers I happened to pick up in Indy when the boyfriend and I went for his birthday weekend which were over priced BUT I did get a free silver GameCube out of it. Which is obviously not pictured because I am silly and forgot to include it. How did I get a free GameCube you may ask? Well, the wonderful salesman forgot to ring it up. I didn’t realize this until Sunday after we had gotten back to my boyfriend’s place. It kind of hit me all at once with the realization of what had happened. I admit I feel bad because it’s not something I meant to happen. I had been wrapped up in the conversation I was having with my man and didn’t pay close enough attention. I know some of you may think that it’s crazy for me to feel this way but I genuinely wanted/expected to pay for it. It was a small and local game store. I love to support them the best way I know how, buy things, so that they stay in business. But alas, lucky me!

The rest of the games are things that I picked up here and there out of luck. Nothing too too exciting but still it puts me closer and closer to having a complete GameCube collection so it’s exciting to me. Hopefully March brings many good fortunes as the past months! Until Monday, stay classy and sassy y’all. ā¤
